Designing‌ ‌Website‌ ‌Pages‌ ‌-‌ ‌Contact‌ ‌Us‌ ‌Page‌

Website design goes a long way in determining the success of your website. A well-planned website can boost your leads and impact the way customers interact with your brand. First impressions, after all, can be lasting ones. Although your homepage sets a precedent, the rest of the pages are an integral part of website design as well.

We’ve covered best web design practices, like selecting the right theme, font, content and more for a newly launched website in our Design Series. In this post, we will go a step further and discuss how to design a website page, namely, the Contact Us page.

The Contact Us page is one of the most important pages on your website. It presents an opportunity for your website visitors to get in touch with you. However, before we see how to design a Contact Us page, let us first see why it is important.

Importance of Contact Us Page

There are several reasons why a Contact Us page is crucial for a website. Here are the top 4 reasons:

  1. Good way to establish a communication link between you and your website visitors
  2. Helps build credibility as visitors can connect quickly for queries, feedback, and more
  3. Displays contact information in the search engine results
  4. Aids in improving website’s SEO by providing complete information

Elements of a Contact Us Page

A Contact Us page provides basic information like email address, phone number, address (if you have a physical store), social media links, and link to other functions (if you’re an SMB).

Below is a screenshot of BigRock’s Contact page. Since we’re a domain and web hosting provider, we have numerous verticals. Based on a visitor’s query, they can accordingly contact the respective department.

Furthermore, the page can also have a Contact Us form to capture a visitor’s query. This form can capture essential information like name, email address and the reason for contacting.

Designing the Contact Us Page

Designing a Contact Us page depends on the elements you want to include and your technical expertise. If you only want to include basic contact information, all you need to do is create a ‘Page’ and write relevant details.

Assuming you’ve developed your website on the WordPress CMS platform – you should be able to find ‘Pages’ in the Dashboard backend.

  • Login to your WordPress dashboard
  • Click on ‘Pages’ → ‘Add New’
  • A new page will be created
  • Add relevant information
  • Click on ‘Preview’ to see a preview of the page
  • Click on ‘Publish’ to make the page live

Based on the information you want your Contact Us page to display, you can include them in the editable section aka where ‘Get in Touch with Us’ is written. After you have designed a basic Contact Us page, you can add any information you want to add.

Now if you want to include a Contact Us form on this page, you can do so. There are two ways to design a contact form:

  1. Manually
  2. Using a plugin

If you’re comfortable designing your Contact Us form you can code it manually. However, this may take some time. A simpler alternative is to use a plugin.

There are several plugins available for WordPress websites to design a Contact Form. We will list down the two best contact form plugins for WordPress.

  1. Contact Form 7

Contact Form 7 is one of the most popular and widely used plugins for creating Contact Forms. It has over 5 million active installations, is open-source and available in 63 languages.  This plugin is easy to install and integrate with your WordPress dashboard. Moreover, they are quick to load and do not hamper your website load speed.
  2. Contact Form by WPForms

Another popular plugin that we recommend is Contact Form by WPForms. This is a drag and drop plugin that allows you to build different contact forms for your WordPress website. It has over 4 million active installations, available in 21 languages and optimised for web/mobile websites. This plugin is easy to install and doesn’t slow down your website speed.

In a nutshell

A Contact Us page helps you build credibility and a lasting impression. At the same time, you should keep in mind that designing a Contact Us page shouldn’t slow you down, and hence it is important to optimise your page elements and choose plugins wisely.
