Managing FTP Accounts in BigRock cPanel

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) allows you to manage your website's files on the server. You can create, manage and delete FTP accounts from the cPanel. 

This article will help you to create FTP account, manage FTP account and deleting FTP account in BigRock cPanel 

Step 1:

  • Go to Orders Section 
  • Click on "Orders" in the top menu to access your order details.

Step 3:

  •  Search using the domain name associated with the hosting plan.
  •  Under your BigRock hosting plan, Click on Go to cPanel (or using the direct cPanel URL( https://yourdomainname:2083))

  • In your cPanel, Go to Files
  • Click on FTP Accounts

Step 5

In add FTP account, mention the following details 

Option 

Description 

Log In 

Enter username which will be combined with primary or addon domain name.

For example, if username is testing and domain is ftptest.com, the FTP username will be: [email protected] 

Domain 

This field is only present if multiple domains are present in your cPanel.

Select the appropriate domain for which you wish to create the FTP account 

Password 

Enter a strong password of your choice. 

Password (Again) 

Confirm the password again. 

Strength 

This field indicates the strength of the password. A green password Strength meter indicates that the password is equal to or greater than the required password strength. Click Password Generator to generate a strong password. 

Directory 

FTP account access is limited to the directory mentioned in this field. 

The FTP account can access the mentioned directory and all of its subdirectories. Directory is auto filled by the system as public_html/domain.tld/account where account is the username entered in log In field. 

For example, if you’re creating an FTP account for your primary domain, the directory path should be /public_html.

Quota 

Set Disk space quota as per your requirement or select Unlimited. 

Step 5: After entering all the above details, Click on Create FTP Account.

Managing an FTP Account 

The existing FTP Accounts can be managed from the FTP Accounts table. The following functions can be performed: 

Change Password

You can set a new password of your choice. Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes. Click Password Generator to generate a strong password 

Change Quota

FTP account’s quota can be changed by this option. Enter the disk space quota limit in MB or set it as Unlimited. 

Configure FTP Client

You can download the FTP configuration file for FTP clients like FileZilla, Core FTP and Cyberduck and view detailed Instructions for the chosen FTP client. 

Deleting an FTP Account

  • To remove an FTP account, click Delete for the FTP account you wish to remove. 

  • You can only delete the FTP account or check the box corresponding to Delete the User’s Home Directory to delete the FTP account as well as delete all the files that the FTP account’s home directory contains.
