Installing an SSL on Plesk Panel
This article provides step-by-step instructions to install an SSL certificate on the Plesk Panel, including CSR generation and uploading the CRT and Private Key.
There are two scenarios covered below:
- Scenario 1: You have both SSL and Hosting products with us
- Scenario 2: You only have Hosting with us
Scenario 1: If You Have Both SSL and Hosting With Us
You will first need to issue/reissue the SSL certificate and then install it on Plesk.
Note: If you already have the CRT and Private Key, you can directly proceed to Step 3.
Step 1: Generate CSR from Plesk Panel
- Log in to your BigRock Customer Control Panel https://manage.bigrock.in/customer
- Go to Orders and select the domain with the hosting product.
- Click on Go to Plesk.
- Inside Plesk, under the Security section, click on SSL/TLS Certificates.
- Click on Advanced Settings.
- Click on Add SSL/TLS Certificate.
- Select 2048 as the bit type.Enter the Certificate Name, Country, State, Location, and Organization Name.
- Click on Request.
- The CSR will be generated. Click on the certificate name to view the CSR and Private Key.
Important Notes:
- For PositiveSSL and Comodo SSL, enter the domain name as the naked domain (example: domainname.com).
- For Wildcard SSL, enter the domain name as *.domainname.com.
Step 2: Issue/Reissue the SSL Certificate
- Go back to your BigRock Customer Control Panel.
- Click on the domain name.
- Under Backup and Security, locate the SSL Certificate section.
- Click on Issue/Reissue.
- Paste the generated CSR and click Next.
- Select a verification method and complete the domain verification process. Learn more about verification methods.
- Once verification is completed, your SSL certificate will be issued.
- Under the SSL Certificate section, click on View Details and copy the CRT (Certificate).
Step 3: Install SSL in Plesk
- Log in to your Plesk Panel.
- Go to SSL/TLS Certificates under the Security section.
- Click on Advanced Settings.
- Click on Add SSL/TLS Certificate.
- Click on the certificate name you created while generating the CSR.
- Paste the CRT (Certificate) in the provided field.
- Replace the CA Bundle from here: Use Domain Validated (DV)
- Click Install Certificate.
The SSL certificate is now installed.
Scenario 2: If You Only Have Hosting With Us
Ensure you have the following:
- CRT (Certificate file)
- Private Key
If the Private Key is not available, you must reissue the SSL by generating a new CSR from the Plesk Panel. The Private Key will be generated along with the CSR.
Once you have both the CRT and Private Key, follow Step 3 above to install the SSL in the Plesk Panel.
