How do I change the Primary domain of my hosting plan?
This article outlines the step-by-step process to change the primary domain name of a hosting order. Changing the primary domain name is supported only on Linux and Windows Shared Hosting plans.
Before changing the primary domain of your account, please review the following important steps to ensure a smooth transition and avoid data loss.
- Take a complete backup of your website files and databases and download them to a local system.
- CMS-based websites (such as WordPress or Joomla) may break after changing the primary domain. Ensure that both the website content and database are properly backed up.
- If the new domain is already added as an Alias, Addon, or Parked domain, you must remove it before using it as the primary domain. Make sure to back up any associated content before deleting the domain.
