Step 2: Search for Your Domain
After logging in, navigate to the Orders section and search for the domain associated with your hosting account.
Step 3: Access Hosting Details
Click on My Hosting from the top menu to view your active hosting services.
Step 4: Log in to cPanel
Under the hosting details section, click Go To cPanel. You will be logged in automatically without needing additional credentials.
Step 5: Navigate to Email Routing
In cPanel, go to the Email Routing option under the Email section.
Step 6: Configure Email Routing
- Select the correct routing option based on the domain’s MX records. Choosing the wrong option can break email reception for the domain.
- Automatically Detect Configuration: Allows cPanel to automatically determine the correct routing based on MX records.
- Click Change to apply the selected email routing configuration.
Email Routing Types in cPanel
cPanel supports three types of email routing based on the domain’s Mail Exchanger (MX) records:
- Local Mail Exchanger: The lowest numbered MX record points to an IP address on the hosting server. Emails are delivered locally.
- Backup Mail Exchanger: The lowest numbered MX record points to an IP address not on the hosting server. This acts as a backup mail server.
- Remote Mail Exchanger: No MX records point to the hosting server’s IP. Emails are routed to a remote server.
Important Notes
- Always verify the domain’s MX records before changing the email routing setting.
- Incorrect settings may result in emails not being delivered to your server or mailbox.
- Use "Automatically Detect Configuration" for most standard setups unless you have a custom mail server.
