The Let's Encrypt Plugin for Free SSL

The Let’s Encrypt plugin for cPanel’s AutoSSL allows servers to issue free SSL certificates from Let’s Encrypt instead of the default cPanel provider (Sectigo). It supports faster certificate issuance and can secure wildcard subdomains, though it comes with rate and size limits. Wildcard certificates require DNS hosting on the local cPanel server or cluster and cannot use HTTP DCV challenges. The plugin only issues SSL certificates for cPanel accounts, not system services. Installation, provider selection, registration updates, and uninstallation are managed via WHM and root-level scripts. Users should review Let’s Encrypt’s terms of service and rate limits before use.
